There are two types, the tobacco smoke detector and the match or lighter flame detector.

The tobacco smoke detector (CSA-GDV) is designed for the detection of cigarette smoke and drug residues in enclosed areas such as toilets, restrooms, bathrooms etc. Each unit will protect an area of approximately 27 cu m. (3m x 3m x 3m)

The match/lighter flame detector (CSA-FDV) will detect a 25mm flame at 6m within 1 second anywhere within its 120 degree field of view.

The detector is designed to work in areas subject to high winds or rapid ventilation areas etc. Typical applications include open areas, building entry/exit points, high ceiling rooms (>3m) or locations subject to intermittent smoke or vapour. Click to see video

 

A typical system consists of:

• A master detector unit CSA-FDV (flame) or CSA-GDV (smoke);

• A power supply (single battery, multiple battery or mains);

• An output module to operate a remote warning device;

• A remote warning beacon, either sound + strobe or strobe; and

• Anti-vandal cages.

These systems are fairly complex, and require a knowledge of the individual components, for this reason we strongly advise that you contact us and we can give advice or design a system for you.

 

A standard Cig-Arrete Alarm Kit (CSA-KIT) is available or alternatively a system can be designed using the components below.

 

The systems can be powered by internal battery, however this is not advised if anti-vandal cages are used as the cage and detector must be de-mounted and re-mounted each time the battery is renewed. Much better to use an external battery box CSA-EBB which allows batteries to be replaced much easier. Alternatively external mains power can be used by either the CSA-SMPSU or the CSA-246.

 

For a typical installation of five detectors, a simple 8 core security type cable will be sufficient. Maximum cable length 250m.

 

NEW - Economy versions of the 'smoke' and 'flame detectors.

These are stand alone units that cannot be utilised as part of a larger integrated system, and cannot be powered by mains or remote batteries.

 

VEHICLE PROTECTION - PLEASE NOTE - the economy cigarette smoke detector (CSA-GDV/E) is not suitable for installation into motor vehicles, as they will detect even the very lightest engine emissions. The economy flame detector (CSA-FDV/E) is suitable for motor vehicles, as they will detect naked flames such as matches and lighters, however they will NOT detect vehicle electric cigarette type lighters.

• Stand alone tobacco smoke detector and voice sounder CSA-GDV/E.

• Stand alone flame detector and voice sounder CSA-FDV/E.

CSA-GDV/E

NB if cooking facilities are within the room it is recommended that the CSA-FDV/E (flame detector) is used instead.

When cigarette smoke is detected one of two messages is broadcast at 92dB:

Message 1: "This is a no-smoking area, please extinguish your cigarette"

Message 2: "This is a no-smoking vehicle, please extinguish your cigarette

• Simply fixed to the ceiling by 2-screws;

• Coverage area approx 27 cubic m (3m x 3m x 3m);

It is recommended that this unit is protected by an CSA-AVC2 anti-vandal cage to prevent unauthorised tampering.
