What is a confined space?
A confined space is any enclosure where a possibility of a
dangerous atmosphere could exist.
e.g. Tanks, chambers, trenches, sewers, pits or silos etc.
Dangers:
Flammable or explosive, toxic or oxygen deficient
atmospheres; drowning; asphyxiation in free flowing solids, bacterial
infection etc.
Breathing apparatus:
Escape and rescue breathing apparatus.
Gas detection equipment:
Flammable, toxic and oxygen deficiency monitoring
detectors
Access equipment:
Winches, body harnesses and slings, helmets etc.
Ancillary equipment:
Lighting, spark proof tools, protective clothing etc
