Get Out - Stay Out DVD

GET OUT - STAY OUT Is one of the most popular training programmes on our website. The original Get Out - Stay Out was produced in 1990 and has been regularly updated to reflect current fire legislation in the UK.

GET OUT - STAY OUT is a dedicated fire evacuation programme and offers comprehensive instruction on the correct procedures to be followed when fire breaks out. The information is designed to ensure that everyone is aware of what to do if they discover a fire or if the fire alarm activates.

This updated version is designed to give the user/trainer a more adaptable product with four different versions of the same programme.  In this way trainers can avoid having to say ' don't pay attention to this bit because we do it a different way' etc. The different versions are related to the type of fire alarm system installed.

Version 1 - All fire alarm systems (duration 15m)

Intended for all types of fire alarm systems, it is ideal for the consultant/trainer were the delegates may come from a variety of situations with different fire alarm systems.

Version 2 - Single stage fire alarms (duration 13m)

Intended for situations where a single stage alarm is installed. To avoid confusion two stage alarms are not mentioned.

Version 3 - Two stage fire alarms (duration 14m)

Intended for premises with a two-stage fire alarm. It covers the fundamentals of phased evacuation and instructs delegates how to react if they hear an intermittent or constant alarm.  Again, to avoid unnecessary confusion single stage alarms do not get a mention.

Version 4 - all fire alarm systems (short edition - duration 7m)

This shortened edition of version 1 is intended for  where time constraints dictate a shorter training period. As with all previous versions of the program the key message is speedy evacuation.

Topics include:

Fire risk assessments/fire legislation - the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Raising the alarm;

Calling the fire service;

Evacuation; and

Fire wardens and their duties

The Burning Question DVD

This video allows the trainer to assess the fire safety knowledge of their staff. The video is based around a questionnaire which is given out to the delegates and completed before the video is shown. The video then gives the answers.

The Burning Question is based around general fire safety i.e. fire evacuation procedures, fire prevention and fire-fighting equipment. The questions in the video are about subjects that staff will already have been trained in, with the questions as multiple choice or single word answers.

Focus on Fire DVD  – Induction Training

Making sure that everyone knows what to do if a fire breaks out not only makes good business sense, but it is also the law. As soon as a new member of staff starts working at your premises they need to know what they should do if they discover a fire or if they hear the fire alarm.

Focus on Fire - Induction Training has been produced to help those responsible for training to ensure that all new employees are aware of what is expected of them in a fire or similar emergency.  Some of the subjects covered in this short programme include:

Emergency Procedures

Actions on discovering a fire or hearing the fire alarm. The role of the fire warden. The importance of keeping fire exits, alarm call points and fire fighting equipment free from obstructions at all times.

Fire Prevention

Housekeeping and disposal of rubbish, basic electrical safety and the precautions to be taken with flammable liquids

Chemistry of fire

The fire triangle, classification of fires A,B,C,D,F and the risk associated with electrical equipment.

Fire fighting equipment

The types of fire and suitable and fire extinguisher operation.

This programme also includes a fire safety questionnaire which will help you ensure that your staff understand the important role they play in the day to day fire safety of your organisation. So, now you can make sure that your staff are aware of their role in the day to day fire safety of your company as soon as they have had their induction training.

Retail Fire Safety

Not yet available, but you can pre-order your copy now.

With the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 there is an increased responsibility on management to ensure the safety of customers and staff, by conducting a fire risk assessment and ensuring that all staff, including seasonal and casual staff receive appropriate training.

Retail Fire Safety has been produced specifically to help retailers ensure staff have been trained in all aspects of fire safety. To achieve this, this DVD has been produced in modular form so the sections can be shown individually.

Module 1 - Fire Procedures
Ensuring staff know what to do if they discover a fire or hear the fire alarm. Information includes;

  • Raising the Alarm,

  • Calling the Fire Service and

  • Evacuation Procedures

Module 2 - Arson
Arson is the biggest cause of fires, it is therefore important that all staff are aware of this very real and potentially disastrous threat to your business. This module provides vital information to help prevent your business becoming just another statistic.

Module 3 - Fire Safety
Preventing fire is largely common sense. Besides providing useful information to help your staff ensure the opportunity for a fire to begin is minimised.

Module 4 - Fire Extinguishers
Given the requirement for ‘duty of care’ under health and safety legislation it is important to ensure staff are given information regarding the portable fire fighting equipment. This module looks at;

  • The triangle of fire,

  • Fire classification,

  • Selecting the correct extinguisher,

  • The do’s and don’ts of using fire extinguishers.
