The Role of the Fire Warden (2009)

This training programme looks at some of the actions which can help make workplaces safer and demonstrates the vital role that fire wardens can play in helping prevent fires from occurring, assisting with evacuations and fighting fires (where appropriate).

The DVD shows fire wardens carrying out their duties in a range of different industries, highlighting how actions may vary from company to company and even department to department.

The DVD is divided into two sections:

1. Fire Warden duties (running time: 21 minutes)

describes a typical fire warden's main responsibilities, breaking their role into 4 key areas:

  • identifying and reporting fire hazards in the workplace;

  • taking prompt and appropriate action in the event of fire;

  • ensuring that everyone is evacuated to a place of safety; and

  • undertaking first aid fire-fighting (as appropriate).

2. First-aid fire-fighting ( running time 5 minutes)

Provides an overview of the main types of fire extinguishers and their use.

Ideal for use when training new fire wardens, or for refresher training.
