A Warm Reception  DVD (Hotel Fire Safety)

Updated July 2008, this new version has been brought up to date with regards to fire safety legislation and smoking regulations.

When updating the programme it was decided to give the user/trainer a more adaptable product and therefore the production contains 4 different versions.

As with all previous versions of this programme, the key training message is about evacuation during a fire or similar emergency. The topics covered include;

  • the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

  • Fire Doors

  • Raising the Alarm

  • Calling the Fire Service

  • Portable Fire Fighting Equipment (not in version 3)

  • Evacuating the Hotel

  • Preventing Fires (not in version 4)

Version 1 - Full length programme (Duration 18m)

A 'catch-all' programme covering all aspects of fire safety in hotels including important information regarding the procedures to be followed in the event of fire from raising the alarm through to the evacuation of the hotel.  This version includes important considerations to be made when fighting a fire and a section dedicated to simple fire safety measures to help reduce the chances of a fire starting.

Version 2 - short version (duration - eight minutes)

This short version is ideal for use as part of induction training or where time is limited.  It contains core fire evacuation information, that will ensure staff are made aware of the correct procedures to be followed in case of fire.

Version 3 - no fire extinguishers (duration - 16 minutes)

This version recognizes that many hoteliers do not encourage staff to fight fires. This version therefore focuses on evacuation procedures and fire safety measures to reduce the chance of fires starting.

Version 4 - No Fire Safety (duration - 16 minutes)

This version includes the considerations to be made before attempting to tackle a fire but does not include the fire safety section.  Ideal for training staff who may be involved in evacuating the hotel or as a reminder for any staff who have already received training in the use of portable fire-fighting equipment.
